Venetian lagoon

Venetian Lagoon (Italian: Laguna di Venezia / Laguna Veneziana or Laguna Veneta), the lagoon (abalone) located in Venice and around Venice in the province of Veneto, Italy. The word "laguna" of Laguna Veneta, the name in the Venetian language, is synonymous with the Latin word "lacus" and means "lake". The word "lagoon" ("lagoon"), which is the international use of the shallow bay or bay of salt water. Approximately 8% of the lagoon is soil, including Venice and its many small islands. 11% is consistently sea water or canal. The remaining approximately 80% consists of mud flatness, shallowness and salt marshes. The lagoon is the largest wetland area of the Mediterranean basin.
Venice Lagoon is connected by the Adriatic Sea with three entrances, Lido, Malamocco and Chioggia. Venice Lagoon is subject to changes in the water level as it is located at the tip of the sea, which is largely closed. The most extreme of these is the large tide known as Acqua Alta ("high water"), which is the reason for flooding Venice at a regular interval.
