History of formation
Ancient World
In the second millennium BC The clerks of Ur and other cities of the Mezhyrichia began collecting literary and scientific texts written with cuneiform clay tablets. Thus there were private and royal libraries. The largest of these was the Ashurbanipal library (VII century BC), which numbered over 30,000 tablets. In the VI. BC. BC King Nabonidus of Babylon collected antiquities, excavated and even restored some of the Chaldean Ur. and science. Similar altars were placed in the schools of philosophy of Plato and Aristotle to perform the rites. Sometimes, the museums served not only as a place of worship for the muses, but also as a venue for creative competitions of poets. In the Thespian sanctuary every five years, all-Greek celebrations were held in honor of the Muses - the Muses. The sanctuary itself and its surroundings contained statues of goddesses made by sculptors Kefisodot and Praxiteles, statues of Dionysus by Myron and Lissippus, the famous marble Eros of Praxiteles. [1]. to the gods in honor of the victory over the enemy, in the hope of receiving healing or satisfying any request. From these gifts, the first collections were created, which were stored in shrines, temples, and treasuries. Special officers engaged in their protection and accounting. They made detailed lists of things that indicated the name of the object, the material from which it was made, the mass, the special features, the condition, the name of the god to whom it was dedicated, the reason and date of the dedication, the name and ethnicity of the donor. Things that were in a broken state were put on the lists of things to be removed, which were approved by the temple council. Because these items were not allowed to be destroyed, gold and silver articles were melted into ingots, which were then dedicated to the gods, and others were buried in temple reservoirs or underground vaults.
