In early 2001, the current co-founder and CEO of DDD Jeremy Hockenstein went to Cambodia and was struck by the prevailing poverty in the country. In 2004, the company opened offices in Vientiane Laos and Battambang, in 2011 in Nairobi Kenya. Social Model
The innovative work and study program, which is the core of the DDD social enterprise, allows young people from poor families to gain work experience and access to higher education DDD recruits secondary school graduates, including youth with disabilities, to participate in the program. Participants work for about 36 hours a week, providing digital content services to company customers. After a one-year trial period, they are entitled to a scholarship a program that will allow them to get a university education After entering a university, program participants continue to work on a schedule that is convenient for them. Since 2001, the DDD program has allowed 2 thousand young people to get an education and more than 1.5 thousand people have been employed. DDD graduates earn four times as much than average annual income in Cambodia and Laos [13]
