Biography
Studied from Cambridge University from 1931 to 1934, in 1936 received the title of Doctor of Philosophy, writing a dissertation on the propagation of radio waves in the ionosphere. After that, he worked and taught at his native university. In 1945, he became head of the computer lab, and remained in this post until 1980. [3]
Wilks is credited with the development of EDSAC, the first ROM computer to store program code, as well as the invention of microcode. He founded the British Computer Society in 1957 and was its first president.
I remember exactly the moment when I realized that most of my life will now consist in finding errors in my own programs.
