Nevinbumbaau bisle Nevinbumbaau; or Nevinbimbaau - in the Melanesian mythology of the island of Malekula, the goddess In some myths is called a giant cannibal, in others it is described as a simple woman
According to the myth recorded by AB Deacon, Nevinumbumbau was a giant cannibal, the wife of Temes Malau, who tried to capture Ambatha’s brothers She dug out a cannibal was eating a large hole near her house, and one who got into it Once Avirara, brother Ambat, who was going to fish Nevinumbumbau, passed by her house, invited him to his house, where he hit Avirara with a stone on his head and threw it into the pit. The same thing happened with the other three brothers. There the hero saw the roots of the banyan tree that grew near their house on the island of Tomman, Ambat took a knife and started digging the earth.
