Škoda Auto

Škoda Auto, the Czech car manufacturer, is one of the oldest car manufacturers. Acquired by the Volkswagen Group in 1991.
The company was founded in 1895 by Laurin & amp; It was founded with the partnership of two people working in the family company Klement to build bicycles. In 1899, they started to produce motorcycles and after 6 years they started to produce cars. The factory is located in Mlada Boleslav. Škoda means "damage" in Czech.
The city of Mladá Boleslav and the car manufacturer Škoda Auto have been developing together for more than 100 years. Škoda Auto covers more than a third of the city's surface area and is an integral part of the city. The main production operation has been gradually shifted to new parts of the factory and the original factory, which was preserved in its original form, has remained at the end of the plant and has become the face of the automobile manufacturer looking to the city. > 4 External links
At the beginning of December 1895, technician Václav Laurin and book dealer Václav Klement, both enthusiasts of bicycles, began the production of bicycles that they designed and called Slavia in accordance with the nationalist atmosphere of the 19th century. A few years later, in 1899, Laurin & amp; Klement Co. He started to produce motorcycles and in a short time he succeeded and won several races. After the first attempts at the beginning of the century, motorcycle production was gradually replaced by automobile production since 1905.
The first Laurin & amp; The Klement car, the Voiturette A, also succeeded and became a classic Czech car over time. In a short period of time, it established a balanced position for the Company in the developing international automobile market and enabled the Company to begin operating on a large scale. The production volume increased and soon exceeded the potential of an individual enterprise. In 1907, the founders of the company started the transformation into a joint stock company. The international character of Škoda operations is becoming increasingly important. The production facilities were continuously expanded and after 1914 Škoda began manufacturing for the armed forces. Depending on the country's economic development, in the 1920s, it became necessary to establish a strong industrial partner in order to strengthen and modernize the company that produced various types of passenger cars, trucks, buses, aircraft engines and agricultural machines at that time.
Pilsen Škoda Co. The merger with Laurin & amp; The Klement brand is a thing of the past. In the early 1930s, the automotive division was reorganized into a separate joint-stock company within the Škoda Group. (Automobile Industry Co. ASAP). In the aftermath of the crisis, the Company made a breakthrough with the Škoda Popular model.
The German occupation between 1939 and 1945 caused a significant halt in the history of the company and was incorporated into the industrial structure of the German Empire. The civilian production program was immediately limited and production focused on the needs of the German army. In the course of the large-scale nationalization process that began immediately after the end of the war, in 1946 the Company became a public enterprise and was renamed AZNP. During the period of economic and political change, the Company became the only passenger car manufacturer. This standard began to be questioned only in the late 1960s, when new technologies began to develop in the western world. Despite the company's leadership in the Eastern European market, the economic recession in the 1970s also affected the Mladá Boleslav automobile manufacturer. Production was increased again with the start of production of Škoda Favorit model in 1987.
Following the political changes in 1989, Škoda and the Government of the Republic of Czechoslovakia searched for a strong foreign partner to gain international competitiveness in the long term with the Government of the Republic of Czechoslovakia. In December 1990, the Government decided to cooperate with the German Volkswagen Group. On April 16, 1991, the Škoda - Volkswagen joint venture Škoda automobilova a.s. under the name of VW, Audi and SEAT, and then became the fourth brand in the Volkswagen Group. RS
