Vergiate is a comune municipality in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 45 km northwest of Milan and about 15 km southwest of Varese As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,740 and an area of 216 km²

The municipality of Vergiate contains the frazioni subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets Cimbro, Corgeno, Cuirone, and Sesona

Vergiate borders the following municipalities: Arsago Seprio, Casale Litta, Comabbio, Golasecca, Mercallo, Mornago, Sesto Calende, Somma Lombardo, Varano Borghi
