LaMoure County is a county located in the US state of North Dakota As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,1391 Its county seat is LaMoure2 The county was created in 1873 and later organized in 188134 It was named for Judson LaMoure, a state legislator5

According to the US Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,151 square miles 2,980 km2, of which 1,146 square miles 2,970 km2 is land and 49 square miles 13 km2 04% is water6

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,701 people, 1,942 households, and 1,308 families residing in the county The population density was 4 people per square mile 2/km² There were 2,271 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile 1/km² The racial makeup of the county was 9923% White, 002% African American, 017% Native American, 013% Asian, 000% Pacific Islander, 011% from other races, and 034% from two or more races 055% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race 507% were of German, 228% Norwegian and 55% Swedish ancestry

There were 1,942 households out of which 2750% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 6050% were married couples living together, 400% had a female householder with no husband present, and 3260% were non-families 3080% of all households were made up of individuals and 1660% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older The average household size was 238 and the average family size was 299

In the county, the population was spread out with 2420% under the age of 18, 540% from 18 to 24, 2300% from 25 to 44, 2400% from 45 to 64, and 2340% who were 65 years of age or older The median age was 43 years For every 100 females there were 10240 males For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 10070 males

The median income for a household in the county was $29,707, and the median income for a family was $36,495 Males had a median income of $26,351 versus $17,500 for females The per capita income for the county was $17,059 1470% of the population and 1230% of families were below the poverty line Out of the total people living in poverty, 1630% are under the age of 18 and 1290% are 65 or older

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 4,139 people, 1,825 households, and 1,182 families residing in the county12 The population density was 36 inhabitants per square mile 14/km2 There were 2,238 housing units at an average density of 20 per square mile 077/km213 The racial makeup of the county was 985% white, 04% American Indian, 01% black or African American, 01% Asian, 02% from other races, and 06% from two or more races Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 08% of the population12 In terms of ancestry, 630% were German, 276% were Norwegian, 62% were Swedish, 61% were Russian, 60% were English, and 28% were American14

Of the 1,825 households, 228% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 569% were married couples living together, 46% had a female householder with no husband present, 352% were non-families, and 327% of all households were made up of individuals The average household size was 223 and the average family size was 282 The median age was 492 years12

The median income for a household in the county was $46,098 and the median income for a family was $60,932 Males had a median income of $41,250 versus $25,172 for females The per capita income for the county was $27,056 About 68% of families and 91% of the population were below the poverty line, including 68% of those under age 18 and 169% of those age 65 or over15
