Henry County is a county located in the US state of Ohio As of the 2010 census, the population was 28,2151 Its county seat is Napoleon2 The county was created in 1820 and later organized in 18343 It is named for Patrick Henry, the Virginian famous for his "give me liberty or give me death" speech4

According to the US Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 420 square miles 1,100 km2, of which 416 square miles 1,080 km2 is land and 37 square miles 96 km2 09% is water5

As of the census11 of 2000, there were 29,210 people, 10,935 households, and 7,960 families residing in the county The population density was 70 people per square mile 27/km² There were 11,622 housing units at an average density of 28 per square mile 11/km² The racial makeup of the county was 9533% White, 058% Black or African American, 026% Native American, 042% Asian, 256% from other races, and 085% from two or more races 540% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race 943% spoke English, 37% Spanish and 17% German as their first language

There were 10,935 households out of which 3520% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 6110% were married couples living together, 810% had a female householder with no husband present, and 2720% were non-families 2350% of all households were made up of individuals and 1040% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older The average household size was 262 and the average family size was 310

In the county, the population was spread out with 2760% under the age of 18, 820% from 18 to 24, 2810% from 25 to 44, 2210% from 45 to 64, and 1400% who were 65 years of age or older The median age was 36 years For every 100 females there were 9760 males For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 9360 males

The median income for a household in the county was $42,657, and the median income for a family was $49,881 Males had a median income of $35,901 versus $24,076 for females The per capita income for the county was $18,667 About 530% of families and 700% of the population were below the poverty line, including 990% of those under age 18 and 420% of those age 65 or over

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 28,215 people, 10,934 households, and 7,883 families residing in the county12 The population density was 678 inhabitants per square mile 262/km2 There were 11,963 housing units at an average density of 288 per square mile 111/km213 The racial makeup of the county was 952% white, 04% black or African American, 04% Asian, 03% American Indian, 24% from other races, and 13% from two or more races Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 66% of the population12 In terms of ancestry, 537% were German, 106% were Irish, 71% were English, and 69% were American14

Of the 10,934 households, 333% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 582% were married couples living together, 93% had a female householder with no husband present, 279% were non-families, and 237% of all households were made up of individuals The average household size was 255 and the average family size was 299 The median age was 398 years12

The median income for a household in the county was $48,367 and the median income for a family was $58,587 Males had a median income of $44,953 versus $32,127 for females The per capita income for the county was $22,638 About 80% of families and 106% of the population were below the poverty line, including 135% of those under age 18 and 59% of those age 65 or over15
