Greene County is a county located in the US state of Ohio As of the 2010 census, the population was 161,5733 Its county seat is Xenia4 The county was established on March 24, 18035 and named for General Nathanael Greene,6 an officer in the Revolutionary War

Greene County is part of the Dayton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area

As of the census13 of 2010, there were 161,573 people, 61,825 households, and 39,160 families residing in the county The population density was 356 people per square mile 138/km² There were 58,224 housing units at an average density of 140 per square mile 54/km² The racial makeup of the county was 864% White, 72% Black or African American, 03% Native American, 29% Asian, 01% Pacific Islander, 038% from other races, and 166% from two or more races 123% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race

There were 55,312 households out of which 3280% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 5800% were married couples living together, 960% had a female householder with no husband present, and 2920% were non-families 2300% of all households were made up of individuals and 770% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older The average household size was 253 and the average family size was 300

In the county, the population was spread out with 2390% under the age of 18, 1370% from 18 to 24, 2700% from 25 to 44, 2360% from 45 to 64, and 1180% who were 65 years of age or older The median age was 36 years For every 100 females there were 9480 males For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 9140 males

The median income for a household in the county was $48,656, and the median income for a family was $57,954 Males had a median income of $42,338 versus $28,457 for females The per capita income for the county was $23,057 About 520% of families and 850% of the population were below the poverty line, including 870% of those under age 18 and 690% of those age 65 or over

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 161,573 people, 62,770 households, and 41,696 families residing in the county14 The population density was 3905 inhabitants per square mile 1508/km2 There were 68,241 housing units at an average density of 1649 per square mile 637/km215 The racial makeup of the county was 864% white, 72% black or African American, 29% Asian, 03% American Indian, 01% Pacific islander, 05% from other races, and 26% from two or more races Those of Hispanic or Latino origin made up 21% of the population14 In terms of ancestry, 264% were German, 157% were American, 130% were Irish, and 109% were English16

Of the 62,770 households, 301% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 519% were married couples living together, 106% had a female householder with no husband present, 336% were non-families, and 265% of all households were made up of individuals The average household size was 243 and the average family size was 295 The median age was 372 years14

The median income for a household in the county was $56,679 and the median income for a family was $70,817 Males had a median income of $53,614 versus $37,056 for females The per capita income for the county was $28,328 About 78% of families and 114% of the population were below the poverty line, including 153% of those under age 18 and 51% of those age 65 or over17
