Beulah was founded in 1914 It was named after Beulah Stinchcombe, the niece of a local land developer6

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 251 square miles 650 km2, of which, 249 square miles 645 km2 is land and 002 square miles 005 km2 is water1

As of the census2 of 2010, there were 3,121 people, 1,353 households, and 862 families residing in the city The population density was 1,2534 inhabitants per square mile 4839/km2 There were 1,508 housing units at an average density of 6056 per square mile 2338/km2 The racial makeup of the city was 948% White, 02% African American, 23% Native American, 03% Asian, 03% Pacific Islander, 07% from other races, and 14% from two or more races Hispanic or Latino of any race were 23% of the population

There were 1,353 households of which 268% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 551% were married couples living together, 47% had a female householder with no husband present, 39% had a male householder with no wife present, and 363% were non-families 319% of all households were made up of individuals and 121% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older The average household size was 224 and the average family size was 281

The median age in the city was 442 years 223% of residents were under the age of 18; 64% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 221% were from 25 to 44; 343% were from 45 to 64; and 149% were 65 years of age or older The gender makeup of the city was 513% male and 487% female

At the 2000 census, there were 3,152 people, 1,213 households, and 851 families residing in the city The population density was 1,3078 inhabitants per square mile 5050/km² There were 1,475 housing units at an average density of 6120 per square mile 2363/km² The racial makeup of the city was 9578% White, 003% African American, 168% Native American, 029% Asian, 063% Pacific Islander, 016% from other races, and 143% from two or more races Hispanic or Latino of any race were 048% of the population

There were 1,213 households of which 399% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 610% were married couples living together, 68% had a female householder with no husband present, and 298% were non-families 278% of all households were made up of individuals and 129% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older The average household size was 253 and the average family size was 309

The median household income was $45,256 and the median family income was $54,700 Males had a median income of $50,870 versus $20,792 for females The per capita income for the city was $18,614 About 53% of families and 78% of the population were below the poverty line, including 46% of those under age 18 and 300% of those age 65 or over

Educationedit

Beulah's educational system started with a one-room school house, located in an unused barn south of town At its advent, only five local children attended the school As its reputation grew, children from surrounding communities increased the school's attendance to over one hundred students The school went on to receive several awards for educational excellence and was considered the pride of the town until a fire in 1934 destroyed the buildingcitation needed

Beulah has an elementary, middle, and high school The sports teams are called the Miners The American Legion baseball team is called the Cyclones
